I have problems when I connect my laptop with win 7 to a mapped drive on the NAS on my network. The connection is very slow and opening a folder with a lot of pictures take a long time just to show the thumbnails. Copying files to and from the mapped drive is also extremely slow.

When I connect with ftp to the drive the speed looks normal. Any fixes to this? Tuesday, September 29, PM. Hi, It seems like this weeks Win 7 updates has solved the problem. Last night it all worked fine at normal transfer speed with the NAS.

Thanks, T Ertsgaard. Friday, October 16, PM. Hi, Just as a test, please boot the system to Safe Mode with Networking and see how it works. Monday, October 5, AM. Hope that helps.

I'm utterly bemused, and annoyed. Hey Erik, no need to donate — thanks in the comments is much appreciated! Glad it helped! Your email address will not be published. If your NAS is operating on a private home network, you may want to disable transport encryption mode use at your own risk and enable opportunistic locking: For me on my Synology DSj , this took my file transfers from around 5MBps to around 80MBps!

I don't expect to restart the Qnap more than once a year, not every week certainly. We read and write to it almost all day. Right now the processes window has the following items: 4 x python 3 x smdb 1 x afpd 1 x manaRequest.

I will ask when the slow down tends to occur most everybody is in a meeting right now. Anywhere from 25 - 60 users are connected to the NAS at any given time.

It tends to get sluggish between PM - PM. That is close to the time when we dump a lot of data on the Qnap. Not that much data, probably 1 - 6 gigabytes per session. When this sluggishness is occurring the Qnap's Online Users tab in System Logs does not display anything. Is this related?
