But, at the same time, their way of displaying an affinity for and a loathing of the apathy and debauchery that permeates today's pop culture is poetically contradictory. Hence, the title of their debut album Fallacy Fantasy. With Unjust from Chosen Few picking up most of the production work Fallacy Fantasy has a varying musical style throughout and begins with a bang on the song Greetings with Pep starting "Gentlemen start your engines spittin this art is vintage, I'm emptying cartridges of bars at audiences".

As the record continues into songs like Los Lobos Opio's acumen for weaving together phrases and fragments over this somber psychedelic melody are immediately apparent. This album is so dope; not only are my co-workers here at Access hyped about it, co-workers at my other job can't stop talking about it! There are Hiero fans everywhere and with quality albums like this, why not? There are so many heaters on this album but, if I had to pick one track as my favorite, right now it's "Rock Raw".

The beat, the lyrics, and the delivery are all ok, but nothing more. Simply put, Pep sounds flat. THIS is coming from a twenty-year veteran? Pep Love sounds engaged and impassioned as he raps about his introduction to and long history with hip-hop. And this despite the fact that he is often dropping real knowledge and rapping about real things.

It has some of his best rhymes, but the cheesy rock beat holds it back. I read some of the other reviews of the album after I had formed my opinion of it, and I was shocked at how positive they were. Maybe this is actually the album that Pep Love fans have been waiting for.

Remember Me. Their new album RTJ4 is their most political and devastating. After his major success with a triple album, he went on to repeat this with a double one! Kamasi Washington charms and intrigues well beyond the jazz sphere. Working with Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg, and most importantly as the head of the West Coast Get Down collective, the charismatic saxophonist from Los Angeles brings an incredible wave of excitement to the contemporary jazz scene.
